Dennis The Legend Looks a Bank Holiday Banker
The Old Berkshire Hunt stage there usual bumper Easter Monday fixture with another massive crowd anticipated for this very tranquil fixture on the downs. We are hoping to get some decent weather and see plenty of runners, this meeting has generated a good entry with 83 runners entered on a 6 race card. The first race commences at 1.30 p.m. and there will be several stalls a fully licensed bar and various other catering facilities.Hunt Members Race
Quite a competitive little race to open proceedings with The Baillie, Meandmrsjones and East lawyer looking to hold the best form chances. I think the locally trained The Baillie should have a good chance of taking this race after finishing a decent 5th behind Winsley at Tweseldown and he looks a likely improver after that opening run of the season. The form of that race is quite good and should take this race ahead of Meandmrsjones who continues to run well and East lawyer who showed some improved form with a good 3rd behind Rash Move at Dunthrop.
Selection : The Baillie
Alternative : Meandmrsjones
The Intermediate Race
Another competitive race which looks to be between Pro Am and Rustic John. Pro Am won well enough at the Dunthrop and should have an excellent chance to follow up here. Rustic John looks his biggest danger after finishing a decent second behind Dante's Storm at Kingston Blount. Pro Am will probably just have to many gears for that rival here and does look a good bet to record another victory.
Selection : Pro Am (N.B)
Alternative : Rustic John
Volkswagon Touareg Mens Open
A good entry for this race but I would say it must be very doubtful if The Man from Highworth and Mel in Blue will turn out in this race after their exertions in the Foxhunters at Cheltenham last week and with Gunther Mcbride and To the Top both running at Kimble on Saturday, this could turn out to be a good opportunity for either the Improving Dennis The Legend or Moscow Court. Bobosh is entered in this race but I would imagine a more sensible option would be to run in the later Novice Riders race, Honourable Spider is also entered up but I would be surprised to see him make the long treck from East Anglia. Dennis The Legend did well to beat Trade Off in a Mens open Race and Moscow Court has run a couple of decent races this season being sent off favourite for a Hunter Chase at Stratford and finished a decent enough second to Why Connie, with many of this field unlikely to show up I think this is a good opportunity for Dennis The Legend to continue his improvement and just edge out Moscow Court on this ocassion.
Selection : Dennis The Legend (NAP)
Alternative : Moscow Court
PPORA Club Members Race
This looks a very interesting and open race with many of the 20 runners holding a chance. Bobosh has a good chance but the two horses with consistent form and should fight out the finish is Winsley and Lady Myfanwy. Winsley has been an impressive winner on several occassions this season in these types of races and his only mishap was when rider Nolan Byrne lost his irons and had to pull up the galloping grey at Tweseldown. This shorter course should be in his favour and should have a very good chance to record another pillar to post success. Lady Myfanwy looks to be the biggest danger and will not go down without a fight, Bucket Awl, Earl of Buckingham, Teninarow and Windy Spirit are all other improving types and will not be far behind the front two in what looks an intriguing contest.
Selection : Winsley
Alternative : Lady Myfanwy
Restricted Race
A very open race with Milesian King looking to hold a good chance if able to stay on his feet, finishing a decent second behind Apheus at Siddington last week in the Hunt Members race this would of increased the horses confidence after falling on two previous ocassions, he looks the winner to me and should have most to fear from Trizzy who looks an improving type from the Manners yard and could go very close after an improved run last time out in what looks a very open contest. I just fancy Milesian King to enjoy this easier course and manage to hold on this time.
Selection : Milesian King
Alternative : Trizzy
The Open Maiden Race 8yo +
A very poor race on paper with many of the runners looking well exposed Captain Valiant ran a decent first race of the season but has not come on for that run unseating the rider and then pulling up on his next two starts, he should be avoided in his present mood and could leave the door open for Riffles and Mountain Trooper. Riffles has the better form and really should take this race after recording a decent 4th behind Patrick's Double at Siddington, that form is more than likely good enough to take a race like this.
Selection : Riffles
Alternative : That's My Boy
Hoping to report a few winners in our review of this meeting on Tuesday.
