Reel Dancer Ready to Roll Back The Years
The Warwickshire Hunt stages their usual mid afternoon Bank Holiday Monday fixture this week-end at Ashorne. Some recent rain has hit the course over the past few days and the going at the course should be near perfect. With some dry days still expected to come over the next few days the course could still be watered if necessary. They have received a very good entry for this meeting with 187 horses entered on a 7 race card. The meeting commences as usual with a trappy looking Maiden race. No John No should have an outstanding chance in this race if able to stay on his feet and he sets the standard here. I think he should have most to fear from the Alan Hill trained Sir Ronan who unseated the rider on his first pointing outing but probably has plenty more improvement in the locker and I would not be surprised if he pushed the selection very close.
A very competitive Confined race follows and this looks a good opportunity for Tessa Good and The Baillie to register another victory. The Baillie shot around the Lockinge circuit on Easter Monday and should take a good deal of catching here. Persian Hero looks a very big danger even though his form has tailed off a bit in recent outings. Velvet Dove who was a good winner at Kingston Blount recently also holds good each way chances but her form may not be quite as strong as the above mentioned.
We head back again for another maiden race which looks extremely tricky to resolve and I could only put up a token choice with either Buckingham Boys or Present Love. The other runner that has run quite well recently was Jolt at Kingston Blount but I don't think that race was very strong and will need to show improvement to take a competitive race like this.
The Hunt members race has attracted 11 entries and looks a great chance for Reel Dancer to roll back the good times and return to the winners enclosure. Reel Dancer has not been in such good form this season but usually runs much better at this time of year and he seems to like this course. Reel Dancer ran a much better than he had done previously this season at Kimble when he finished 3rd behind Accumulus in the Confined race, but with that run under his belt he looks primed to put in a very big run here. The main danger looks to be the locally trained Castle Banquet who was a good winner at the same Kimble meeting, winning in emphatic style, taking the open maiden race. This is a big step up in class for him but the third horse in that race, Gardner's Cottage, franked the form winning well at the Atherstone meeting last week-end, so the form maybe stronger than first imagined. On this ocassion I am going to take Reel Dancer to come out on top and record another success.
A really exciting Mixed Open race is next on the card and this race looks a real cracker. Irilut, Marblehead and Reach For The Top all set a very high standard, but on this ocassion may all be playing second fiddle behind Virginia Preuil who has been really impressive in both his victories so far this season. Virgina Preuil will probably have most to fear from Reach For The Top and this race holds every chance of being a great spectacle for racegoers. It would also be nice to see Irilut who has been a prolific winner in recent seasons show a return to form. The Restricted race is next on the card and this looks a very competitive race. William Somers who was very impressive at Dunthrop earlier in the season may be good enough to take this race. Although their will be plenty of the 30 strong entries gunning to take this prize. I think you should get a good run for you money with William Somers so I will put him up for this very tight race to come out on top.
.
The PPORA Club Members race for veteran and Novice riders brings proceedings to a close, and this really is a meeting not to be missed with some very useful horses likely to turnout on the day. This race should go to Young Collier who has run well in a couple of Hunter chases and will relish this drop down in class and should take all the beating. Young Collier would have most to fear from Virginia Preuil if he was to turn out in this race in preference to the Mixed Open Race earlier in the card. Snowtre has also hit top form in the last few weeks and looks a lively outsider with strong each way possibilities.
